IBB resolution

neomeruru: (just come)
I have a resolution for the IBB! This round, I am going to try to comment on every art post, even if I can't read the story because of time or whatever. It takes like two minutes, Lindsay. Do unto others.

Luckily, the art this time around has been really excellent, so it's not like it's a hardship!

([ profile] eternalsojourn and [ profile] sin_repent are posting today though. Weep and rend clothing, that I am not sin_repent! :D)

big news and grr news and wheee news

  • Jan. 26th, 2012 at 11:19 PM
neomeruru: (Default)
Good news first! It's exciting news, actually! Today I was accepted into a certificate program at a local art university, Emily Carr University of Art and Design. I'll be doing a program they recently started offering for folks who are interested primarily in illustration. It should take something like three to four years, but I'm already signed up for three courses: Materials and Media in Fine Art, Basics of Composition and Form, and Drawing Fundamentals.

I'm mostly really excited to get some real education in the fundamentals -- I've never had any sort of art education -- which totally shows, right? I take solace in the fact that I'm going into this with a heart scoured clean of hubris (thanks, fandom!), with the knowledge that I am going to be told that I am very, very bad and terrible and awful, and I actually kind of welcome it. I submit, o art school! Make me whole and perfect in Your image!

Okay, now the bad news. LASIK is really not working for me, you guys. I've done some shiftless complaining on Twitter, but here's the deal. I just passed the three month mark, which is supposed to be when people start to shake off the last bits of fog and get on with their lives. This is really not the case for me. In addition to the dry eyes which have been plaguing me since the beginning, I got an eye infection earlier this month that I'm still grappling with, and that's impeded my progress greatly. I can see finally, which is nice, but I can't read at a distance, and that's pretty disheartening. There's a lot of things to read in the world, from drive-thru menus to road signs to digital clocks and license plates, and my experience in the world is so incomplete now that just thinking about it makes me want to cry and scream and possibly never leave my room again.

At the clinic yesterday I heard the word 'regression' more times than I'm really comfortable with. But, infuriatingly, I can't seem to get a straight answer from them. Is it regression? Is it still dry eyes? Is it the infection that's holding me back? They talked about having me in again for a 'touch-up', such an innocuous word for the trauma of going through it all again, being blind and helpless and sore all over again. I told them no, I would sooner wear glasses than do it again. But maybe. If they did one eye at a time. But what if they fucked it up even worse? I only have so much cornea to spare.

Ugh, I get just nauseated with anger every time I think about it. I should end this entry on something happier.

Other than the gross LASIK stuff, my life is actually going pretty well! That's mostly due to the whole new boyfriend adventure, which has basically proven to be as wonderful and life-affirming and fulfilling and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee as advertised on the tin. I don't even really have words for how incredible it is to finally be dating him after so long in each other's orbit -- I could go into some embarassing detail about the very specific points of incredibleness, but for the dignity of all involved, I'd better not. Suffice it to say, yrs trly is a very happy camper on that front.

I know I've been a little quiet in terms of art lately, and that's because I've been working on [ profile] sho_no_tabi's Big Bang, which we're posting on February 9th. Long time fans of her universe will NOT be disappointed, which is all I can say about that. I laughed out loud, I cried real tears, it'll be a good show all around.

BBC Sherlock fanart! Because, you know, I wasn't doing anything else at the time.

Sherlock/Adler/Watson, slight D/s themes, no explicit content but still probably NSFW

I am crossposting this from my backup journal on Dreamwidth! If you are a Dreamwidth kind of person, feel free to add me over there.

Basically, I imported all my old entries and comments up over here, because Livejournal's fuckery is scaring the bejeezus out of me, and the importing feature made it so easy.

I am old-enough-in-internet-years to have had the pleasure of knowing [staff profile] denise when I was a wee little teenager with ever-present slashgoggles and raging hormones and crippling personality defects, and she was kind enough not to hold any of it against me. So it's pretty neat to poke around Dreamwidth and say, hey! Look! Look at this neat thing that my internet friend made! Everything old is new again.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing with this journal; as of right now I don't have very many people in my Circle, so it hasn't quite hit 'critical mass' for me, in terms of social networking.

Plus, on a purely aesthetic note, I really like the way my journal looks, and I haven't found a beautiful layout for DW like the kind I can find on LJ. And as for the LJ site itself -- well, I still have that old vertical-nav blue-and-orange theme from ten years ago, so that should tell you how well I deal with UI change.

Anyway. It's here (or 'there', as the case may be). Do what you like with it!

For [ profile] fitz_y, who asked for (among other things): Arthur/Eames/Ariadne, a smorgasboard of kinks, any character as FTM, and genderfuck in general.

So I drew a threesome with a strap-on and a tiny smidgen of cross-dressing/feminization kink. The tiniest bit. Barely there. You might even miss it.

Don't do it. Or at least, if you do, don't do it because you think it's easy.

You guys like stuff, right?

My friend [ profile] enerjak is selling some of her massive collection of geeky, gamer, and otaku merchandise, and oh man, are there ever some righteous deals going on here. Check out this post for clothing, this one for merchandise including a ton of rare and collectible merch, and this one for a boatload of Emily the Strange stuff.

And my friend [ profile] ladysisyphus, who makes beautiful sparkles and jewelery, has also put up masterlists for her immense portfolio of sparklies. Check out her posts for simple earrings, glam as fuck earrings, pendant necklaces, devotional jewelery, beaded bracelets, and memory wire bracelets and cuffs.

I can personally vouch for the reliability of both, and your cash is in good hands. Support artisans and fellow fen this Christmas season!

Along those lines, I will be having a print sale soon! Keep your eyes tuned to this channel for cheaaaaaaaap cheeaaap cheaaaaaap prints of my art, iffen that's the kind of thing that makes you happy. :)

Two arts today, because I failed at posting the previous one.

First up: an illustration for a collab with mah bestie [ profile] eternalsojourn, because we both started working on Arthur-in-drag-getting-a-BJ-from-Eames pieces at the same time and managed to somehow weave them together. The fic is The Drag of Skin Against Skin. The image is so, so, so NSFW.

eames is the twinkiest twink )

The next picture is a commission I just finished for [ profile] gelbwax, and I am very appreciative of her for putting some cash in my new computer budget. <3 She asked for 'Mal shooting Arthur' and, well, I just have a thing for putting Arthur through the wringer, what is that? Image is SFW if you don't mind a little bit of blood.

pain is in the mind )

Tourniquet, SSBB 33

neomeruru: (the end is nigh)
Don't mind me, I'm just reposting my [ profile] bb_shousetsu submission over here so it lives on my journal too! If you haven't read it yet, it sure would be nice of you if you considered this your chance. :)

with illustrations by [ profile] lihsa
for Shousetsu Bang*Bang, issue 33 - Myths and Monsters

content notes: zombies, boyfriends, zombie boyfriends, awkward fail sex, off-screen racism, animal-related gore, general bodily discomfort mixed in with the porn; about 15k words. Expanded author notes and a bonus zombipocalypse soundtrack here.

Sam had always thought he'd be doing something more thematically appropriate when the dead started coming back to life. )

professor layton and the indescrible twee

neomeruru: (fuck yeah)
I got the new Professor Layton game!

I'll be in my bunk!

Playing my DS!

On a related note, how cute is it that Luke's room has a map centered on the International Date Line rather than the Greenwich Meridian? He's supposed to be an English schoolboy and the game takes place in London, but it was illustrated by people who grew up with maps centered on East Asia. Amazing, how we take for granted simple things like map representation.

NaNoWriMo and SSBB: two great tastes...

  • Oct. 31st, 2011 at 6:52 PM
neomeruru: (sssh just come)
Nanowriters: good luck this year! I will be, as usual, living vicariously through you and using it to try to get into the pants of cute writers while not writing a single word of my own. It may be sabotage for them, but it is sexy, sexy sabotage.

But but BUT, in case you didn't know, the next issue of Shousetsu Bang*Bang ([ profile] bb_shousetsu) is a theme-free, no-limit issue. This means that anyone writing ORIGINAL GAY FICTION for their Nano should totally consider submitting their stories to the zine! The deadline for the issue is December 13, which means there's plenty of time for Editcember to polish it up (read: cut out the 5k where you just wrote 'I am a fish' over and over).

The only stipulation is that SSBB needs to have right of first publication. Snippets posted publicly are fine, complete stories in friends-locked/filtered entries are fine, you just can't post it in-full publicly until the issue goes live. Not that bad, right? Oh, and it's strongly recommended that everyone be alive and in love at the end. It's a happy 'zine.

Just thought you Nanowriters might like the chance to get your stories out there in an already-established forum! More views! More comments! That's not even mentioning there's plenty of artists who sign up to illustrate for SSBB (yours truly included), so you could even get your NaNoWriMo story ILLUSTRATED. How cool is that?

[edit: when I say polished up, I mean seriously, cut out all the crap you put in there to make 50k, and also make sure it makes sense, and that it's not offensive, and that you actually want people to read it, and that the unpaid editors won't want to wear my skin for suggesting you submit it. Quality assurance, people. :D]

Battery, Tony/Steve fanart

  • Oct. 30th, 2011 at 10:38 PM
neomeruru: (tony and steve)
What are you drawing, Lindsay? Oh, just Captain America licking Iron Man's arc reactor while jacking him off. No big deal.

Arising from a fic that made me think about what it might feel like to lick the arc reactor. Like licking a battery, I imagine. A sexy, sexy battery.

Totally not safe for work. Cocks, touching cocks, cocks leaking everywhere, licking body parts, you-probably-won't-even-notice-it bondage.

he said come on, come on, kiss my battery )

One Way or Another - (Lady) Loki fanart

  • Oct. 24th, 2011 at 9:11 PM
neomeruru: (sssh just come)
A little bit of art for Lady Loki. Why? I'm not so sure. Something about the fact that Loki has a canonical female form is really awesome. And because I love villains who are uncomfortably arousing.

Or maybe it was just the single perfect tear that rolled down Tom Hiddleston's face that cried out to me, 'draw me! but not even me, my alternate female form which will probably never even be in the movies!'

we were born to fuck each other, one way or another )

shousetsu round-up and READ MY STUFF <3

  • Oct. 24th, 2011 at 10:54 AM
neomeruru: (the end is nigh)
The new issue of [ profile] bb_shousetsu is live, and oh boy, is it ever a good one. They got an astounding number of stories this time around, and so many of my favorite authors. I haven't read them all yet, but here are some I can recommend by brand name alone:

* Bright Mouths by [ profile] ladysisyphus
* The Stone Fox and the Bloody Hands by [ profile] ladysisyphus and [ profile] drmoonpants
* Unidentified Friendship Objective by our very own [ profile] jibrailis
* Love Will Tear Us Apart (or, The Modern Pygmalion) by [ profile] drmoonpants and I am looking forward to this one because apparently it's disturbing and The Wilderness was SO AMAZINGLY DISTURBING.

This is one I did read, because I illustrated it:

* El Presidio Rides North by my homegirl [ profile] beeblebabe is going to be the best story you've read all year. I laughed, I... okay, I laughed some more. Then when I was done laughing, I realized I was in love with a sassy cholo and his twee little piece of ass. And I like the art I did:

art for El Presidio Rides North under the cut - mild spoilers, no warnings )

And finally, there's the one that I wrote:

* Tourniquet is a story about unnatural biological disasters, stubborn boys in love, less limbs per capita than Star Wars, and a huge fucking helping of explicit zombie blowjobs. I also made a fanmix, which you can download in the author notes. Click it! Or just read the story! Or read the story and come back for the fanmix! Or don't read the story, that's fine, but I might make a sad face at you.

It was illustrated by the amazing [ profile] lihsa, who made not one, by three pictures for it, which as an illustrator myself I have to tell you that is pretty damn amazing.

As always, I humbly ask you to go take a look at the issue and read and comment on even just one story, because it would mean a lot to the authors! I know there's a lot to choose from this time, but those ones up there are a pretty good place to start!

author notes for Tourniquet + a fanmix!

  • Oct. 22nd, 2011 at 11:58 PM
neomeruru: (the end is nigh)
I wrote a thing! That thing I wrote is Tourniquet, aka 'zombieboyfrands', and I wrote it for the Hallowe'en issue of Shousetsu Bang*Bang. Original queer fiction! Zombies! You know the drill! I'll do a big post later about this issue of SSBB and all the goodness it contains, but this entry here is just for Tourniquet.

Behind the cut are just the author notes for the story. But also behind the cut is something way better: a melancholy mini-mix for when the zombie apocalypse comes and fucks up your shit and all you want to do is sit down and have a good cry.

everything is zombies and everything hurts )

Surely you've seen this already, but:

be still my burning loins

Though proof that I married a good one, after watching it Mr. Meruru turned to me and said, 'Black Widow was posing in every scene'. Ah, I may drool over Thor of the mighty laugh, and Tony the genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, and Cap the horribly confused picker of the wrong battles, and Loki of the melting voice... but do any of them give feminist critique of movie trailers? I think not.
